About this role
The team is a biotech startup focused on developing innovative therapeutic approaches to Alzheimer's disease and other neurodegenerative conditions. They are seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Contract-to-Hire) to support the development of AI-driven tools that enhance biological models and facilitate model-enabled research.
In this hands-on role, you will work closely with a team of innovators to develop new modeling methodologies and technologies. Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing AI-driven tools and skills, including chat-based interactions and agentic workflows, to enable model development and analysis.
- Building AI-enabled visualizations, dashboards, and automated parametric search tools to support complex workflows.
- Creating tools for integrating and analyzing external literature and data within the modeling platform.
- Transforming concepts and prototypes into scalable, extensible software solutions.
- Capturing requirements from technical discussions and producing clear documentation, including commented code and API documentation.
The ideal candidate will have:
- A BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 5+ years of software development experience in a professional environment.
- Proficiency in Python, JSON, and interfacing with API-driven platforms; experience with Mathematica is a plus.
- Strong skills in writing well-documented code that supports team collaboration.
- The ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment, managing multiple priorities and adapting to evolving deadlines.
Highly desired qualifications include:
- Experience in developing scientific, modeling, or analytical software.
- Familiarity with AI skills for agentic workflows and integration with LLMs.
- Knowledge of Bayesian statistics and simulation of non-linear differential equations.
