About this role
The team is seeking a Senior Database Administrator (DBA) to ensure the health, performance, and reliability of the data layer behind a high-scale, multi-tenant application. This role involves being a senior individual contributor with a focus on database reliability and performance across various relational and distributed SQL and NoSQL databases.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own the performance and reliability of production databases.
- Implement and manage database monitoring tools to ensure optimal performance.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database issues in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with development teams to optimize database queries and schemas.
- Ensure data governance and adherence to best practices in database management.
- Conduct regular performance tuning and capacity planning.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience in production database administration and engineering (6-9 years).
- Strong knowledge of relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra).
- Proficient in database performance tuning and optimization techniques.
- Experience with database backup and recovery strategies.
- Familiarity with cloud database services (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
