About this role
Our client is seeking a Senior SQL Developer for a remote, part-time contract role. The successful candidate will be responsible for building an internal data intelligence platform that transforms procurement documents into structured, queryable competitive intelligence. This role involves designing, building, and evolving the database layer within a Microsoft/Azure Cloud environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement relational schemas in Azure SQL, including new tables and fields.
- Refactor and consolidate legacy structures, merging duplicate entities and migrating data.
- Build normalized designs using lookup/reference tables and multi-level parent-child hierarchies.
- Create audit and import-logging structures for full traceability of data loads.
- Support an AI-assisted document extraction pipeline by designing schemas for raw AI output.
- Integrate with Azure Blob Storage for document references and output artifacts.
- Implement data-quality logic at the database layer, including computed aggregates and outlier flagging.
- Model role-based access at the data level.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Strong T-SQL skills, including DDL, constraints, and indexing.
- Proven experience with Azure SQL Database in a Microsoft/Azure environment.
- Expertise in schema design and refactoring in live systems.
- Deep understanding of normalization patterns and data types.
- Ability to read and implement technical design references accurately.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with AI/LLM extraction pipelines and Azure Blob Storage integration.
- Knowledge of data validation and staging workflows.
- Familiarity with statistical computation in SQL.
- Exposure to procurement, bidding, or pricing-data domains.
Experience:
- A minimum of 5-8 years of relevant experience in SQL development and database management.
