About this role
As a SQA Engineer, you will report to the SQA Manager and play a crucial role in ensuring supplier quality and performance. Your primary responsibilities will include evaluating and selecting new suppliers through risk assessments and audits, driving supplier improvement initiatives, and conducting periodic audits of critical suppliers. You will also support the QA and Manufacturing teams to address line quality issues for specific parts, utilizing the 8D methodology to close quality issues effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support NPDs and re-sourcing projects with necessary tooling to ensure first-time quality delivery.
- Review engineering and manufacturing specifications to identify materials needed for product assembly.
- Liaise between Quality Assurance, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Buyers to facilitate communication with vendors.
- Conduct supplier quality control audits regularly to ensure compliance with company and federal standards.
- Maintain a supplier database, including performance evaluations and quality control audits for internal access.
- Manage logistics and supplier communications for packaging and receiving issues, ensuring suppliers meet PPM and on-time delivery targets.
- Anticipate potential risks to the supply chain based on capacity and regulatory changes.
- Undertake supplier visits and compile reports to develop process improvements within the internal supply chain.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Mechanical Engineer with knowledge of GD&T (Geometrical Dimensions & Tolerances).
- 5-7 years of experience in Supplier Development and Supplier Quality Assurance or related fields.
- Background in the automotive sector is preferred but not mandatory.
- Knowledge of IMS and quality concepts (APQP, 7QC tools, MSA, SPC, 5S, FMEA, 8D, PPAP).
- Experience with commodities such as heavy and small fabrication processes, including welding, painting, and machining.
- Proficient in IT tools like ERP (BPCS) and MS-Excel.
- Fluency in English is required.
