About this role
The team is seeking a Software Engineering Specialist to focus on capacity expansion planning. In this role, you will be responsible for implementing and maintaining software modules that support generation, storage, and transmission investment decisions. You will also play a key role in supporting multiregion and interregional planning with a long-term temporal and spatial resolution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement and maintain software modules for capacity expansion planning.
- Support multiregion and interregional planning initiatives.
- Develop and improve large-scale optimization models.
- Create approaches for scenario analysis and sensitivity analysis.
- Conduct long-horizon uncertainty assessments.
- Build maintainable, well-tested, and well-documented code for production-grade planning tools.
- Improve runtime performance and efficiency of existing tools.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proficiency in software development and programming languages such as Python, Java, or similar.
- Experience with optimization techniques and modeling frameworks.
- Strong understanding of capacity expansion planning and energy systems.
- Ability to write clean, maintainable code and document processes effectively.
- Familiarity with tools for scenario analysis and sensitivity analysis.
Experience:
- A minimum of 5-8 years of relevant experience in software engineering, with a focus on capacity planning or related fields.
