About this role
The team is seeking a Senior PostgreSQL Database Engineer to take ownership of their platform's relational data architecture, ensuring data integrity, optimizing query performance, and guiding database evolution. This role is distinct from traditional DBA positions; the focus is on hands-on engineering rather than server administration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement production database schemas from scratch.
- Enforce data integrity at the database layer through robust design practices.
- Analyze query execution plans to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks.
- Collaborate with development teams to optimize data access patterns.
- Participate in database evolution initiatives, including migrations and upgrades.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Extensive experience with PostgreSQL database design and optimization.
- Strong understanding of relational database concepts and data integrity principles.
- Proficient in analyzing and improving query performance.
- Familiarity with database migration strategies and tools.
- Experience with version control systems and CI/CD pipelines.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in database engineering, specifically with PostgreSQL.
