The team is seeking a Senior Lead Java Engineer to join their Core Insurance Platforms (CIP) team. This team is responsible for building, running, and evolving core insurance technology, ensuring a unified and scalable operating model for their business units. As a Senior Lead Java Engineer, you will play a crucial role in modernizing legacy systems and implementing new technologies to enhance performance and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

• Contribute to legacy Java components (WebSphere, GWT-based systems) and develop a plan for transitioning to modern technologies like Spring Boot microservices.
• Translate complex legacy business logic into clean, testable, domain-aligned services.
• Design and implement APIs that are contract-driven, versionable, and scalable.
• Collaborate with Lead Engineers to implement modern patterns for legacy systems, including microservices, BFF, and event-driven architectures.
• Improve system performance, reliability, and maintainability through structured refactoring.

What You Bring:

• 5–8+ years of strong Java engineering experience.
• Deep Java expertise and solid experience with Spring Boot microservices designed for resilience, traceability, and scale.
• Hands-on experience with Spring Boot and building backend services.
• Solid experience working with legacy Java enterprise systems (e.g., WebSphere, GWT, JSP).
• Strong understanding of API design and integration patterns, distributed systems fundamentals, and testing strategies (unit, integration, contract).
• Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS preferred) and containerization.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and engineering best practices.
• Knowledge of observability tooling (logging, metrics, tracing).
• Experience working with or reviewing AI-assisted code generation and evaluating AI-generated code safely and efficiently.
