About this role
The team is seeking a highly experienced MongoDB Database Administrator to own the design, performance, security, and reliability of their MongoDB estate. This role requires deep hands-on expertise across replica sets, sharded clusters, backup/restore, and performance tuning, with the judgment to make architectural decisions independently and troubleshoot production issues under pressure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer, monitor, and maintain MongoDB environments across development, testing, and production.
- Design and implement backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and availability.
- Optimize database performance through tuning and monitoring of queries and indexes.
- Manage replica sets and sharded clusters to ensure high availability and scalability.
- Collaborate with development teams to design efficient data models and database architectures.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database issues, providing support during critical incidents.
- Implement security measures to protect data and comply with industry standards.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Extensive experience with MongoDB, including replica sets and sharded clusters.
- Strong knowledge of backup and restore strategies for MongoDB.
- Proficiency in performance tuning and query optimization.
- Experience with database monitoring tools and best practices.
- Familiarity with scripting languages for automation (e.g., Python, Bash).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in database administration, specifically with MongoDB.
