About this role
The team is seeking a Full-Stack Web Engineer to join their remote team on a full-time basis. In this role, you will play a crucial part in building a new map-centric, data-heavy product, taking ownership of the core user interface while also supporting backend development. This position has a slight frontend focus, where you will primarily engage with the user interface.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain the product's core UI, focusing on map interactions, chat interface, data tables, and file-upload flows.
- Develop map-centric interfaces capable of rendering large feature sets efficiently.
- Display tabular results from spatial queries and manage file-upload functionalities within the product.
- Collaborate with the AI engineer to support backend development, including API design and server-side persistence.
- Contribute to the AI-powered chat interface, tackling challenges related to latency and streaming partial results.
- Deliver measurable outcomes from onboarding and throughout the project lifecycle.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- 5+ years of TypeScript full-stack engineering experience, with proficiency in React for frontend development and Node for backend.
- 2+ years of experience in building map-centric frontends using Mapbox GL or equivalent vector-tile mapping libraries such as MapLibre, Leaflet, or deck.gl.
- 3+ years of experience in creating data-heavy product UIs, including tables, editors, and upload flows.
- 4+ years of experience designing backend services with Postgres, including API design and typesafe query layers. Familiarity with Kysely, Prisma, or similar typesafe query layers is acceptable.
- Senior-level experience with a minimum of 5 years of overall professional experience.
Nice to Have:
- Familiarity with geospatial data.
- 1+ years of experience visualizing large datasets in the browser using vector tiles or similar methods.
- 1+ years of experience building chat and streaming interfaces.
- 2+ years of experience with serverless AWS.
- Understanding of product challenges specific to AI interfaces, particularly regarding latency and streaming partial results.
