About this role
Our client is seeking an experienced Contract Python Software Engineer to join their innovative technology business for an initial 6-month contract, with the possibility of extension. In this role, you will be responsible for building low-latency, real-time systems and developing integrations with external data sources through web scraping and reverse engineering techniques. You will also play a key role in improving the reliability and observability of production systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain high-performance backend systems using Python.
- Develop integrations with external data sources, employing web scraping and reverse engineering techniques.
- Collaborate closely with a highly technical team in a fast-paced environment.
- Take ownership of projects from design through to production.
- Enhance the reliability and observability of existing production systems.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Strong commercial experience with Python.
- Proven experience in building high-performance backend systems.
- Knowledge of web scraping and reverse engineering, including strategies to navigate bot protection.
- Familiarity with Linux, PostgreSQL, Redis, Kafka, or RabbitMQ.
- Excellent communication skills and a pragmatic approach to software engineering.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in software engineering, specifically with Python.
