Backend Engineer (Immediate joiner)

The team is seeking a passionate and skilled Backend Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable backend systems that support technology products used by millions of students, teachers, and government stakeholders across India. This hands-on engineering role involves developing production-grade APIs, backend services, and data workflows while collaborating closely with product managers, frontend developers, AI/ML engineers, QA, and DevOps teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, enhance, and maintain scalable backend services, RESTful APIs, and data processing workflows.
• Write clean, efficient, well-structured, and production-ready code that adheres to engineering best practices.
• Design and optimize database schemas, data models, queries, and indexing strategies for performance and scalability.
• Build and optimize backend components, including API performance, caching mechanisms, background jobs, and asynchronous processing.
• Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues by identifying root causes and implementing sustainable solutions.
• Collaborate with Product, Frontend, QA, DevOps, and AI/ML teams to deliver end-to-end features and seamless user experiences.
• Continuously improve the reliability, security, scalability, observability, and maintainability of backend applications.
• Contribute to system design discussions by evaluating technical approaches and recommending practical, scalable solutions.
• Conduct code reviews, share constructive feedback, and promote coding standards and engineering best practices across the team.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (preferred).
• 3–6 years of hands-on experience in backend software development.
• Strong proficiency in one or more backend programming languages such as Python, Node.js, Java, Go, or equivalent technologies.
• Sound understanding of data structures, algorithms, object-oriented programming, and clean coding principles.
• Proven experience designing, developing, and maintaining RESTful APIs.
• Strong knowledge of database design, schema modeling, indexing, query optimization, and relational or NoSQL databases.
• Experience working with backend frameworks such as FastAPI, Django, Flask, Express.js, Spring Boot, or similar.
• Good understanding of authentication, authorization, API security, exception handling, and secure coding practices.
• Hands-on experience with Git, Docker, debugging tools, logging, and deployment workflows.
