Work experience: at least 10 yrs total work experience, *minimum* 6 years of professional experience in Reporting/BI, with *at least* 4 to 5 years of dedicated, hands-on experience in Workday Reporting
**About the Role**
The organization is currently executing its Business Management System (BMS) programme, a large-scale enterprise transformation featuring a comprehensive global rollout of Workday HCM.
We are seeking a Senior Workday Reporting & Business Analyst Specialist to take end-to-end ownership of building our Workday reporting portfolio. This is a techno-functional role split into 80% hands-on Workday report development and 20% business analysis. This position sits entirely within the Workday reporting and analytical framework; classic Big Data engineering experience (e.g., Spark, Databricks, Airflow) is not required. The successful consultant will bridge the gap between high-level business requirements and technical execution, designing, testing, and deploying critical intelligence frameworks for leadership and global HR teams.
**Key Responsibilities**
Business Analysis & Requirements Gathering (~20%)
- Lead Workshops: Facilitate structured requirements gatherings, interviews, and design walkthroughs with global HR leads and management stakeholders.
- Translate Requirements: Convert complex business questions into airtight technical reporting specifications outlining purpose, data fields, prompts, security configurations, and distribution schedules.
- Legacy Assessment: Review existing legacy reports to systematically decide whether to retire, consolidate, or rebuild them within Workday.
- Demand Management: Challenge and prioritize incoming requests against actual business value, data availability, and standard Workday features.
- Traceability & Sign-Off: Maintain a rigorous requirements inventory and traceability matrix across the development lifecycle, securing formal business sign-off at delivery milestones.
- Data Integrity: Proactively flag data quality anomalies and process gaps to relevant technical and functional workstreams.
Workday Report Design & Configuration (~80%)
- Advanced Report Writing: Build, configure, and maintain all Workday report types including Simple, Advanced, Matrix, Composite, Trending, and Transposed reports.
- Analytics Delivery: Design and build executive-ready dashboards, Discovery Boards, and operational worklets tailored for managers and leadership.
- Calculated Fields: Create sophisticated calculated fields, custom report data sources, and complex report prompts adhering to strict system naming conventions.
- Integration Support: Build robust Reports-as-a-Service (RaaS) and Workday Web Services (SOAP/REST) to serve as stable data sources for downstream integration layers.
- Security & Output: Correctly configure report sharing, scheduling, bursting, and automated delivery formats while ensuring absolute adherence to Workday domain and business process security boundaries.
- Performance Tuning: Troubleshoot reporting defects and optimize execution times for high-volume data pulls.
Testing, Deployment & Governance
- End-to-End Testing: Generate unit test evidence, lead System Integration Testing (SIT), and orchestrate Business Acceptance Testing (BAT/UAT) while managing defect remediation.
- Release Management: Migrate developed reports seamlessly across Workday tenants utilizing Object Transporter, Solution Migration, or equivalent tools.
- Governance Framework: Help refine and enforce the Workday Reporting Governance Framework regarding systemic intake, lifecycle management, and asset ownership.
- Documentation: Author functional and technical design documents alongside an enterprise-level report catalog.
Knowledge Transfer & Post-Launch Support
- Capacity Building: Upskill and train designated internal report writers and power users on standard practices and ad-hoc report writing.
- Hypercare: Provide dedicated post-go-live hypercare support, facilitating a clean handover to the long-term application support team.
