**Job Description:** Senior QA Automation Engineer
**Experience:** 5–8 Years
**Location:** Indore, Madhya Pradesh
**Joining Preference:** Immediate joiners or candidates with a short notice period preferred
**Role Type:** Full-Time
**About the Role**
We are looking for a highly skilled, hands-on **Senior QA Automation Engineer** who combines strong technical expertise with practical problem-solving abilities, ownership, and a proactive approach to quality engineering.
The ideal candidate should have substantial real-world experience building, maintaining, and scaling automation frameworks across web applications, APIs, and mobile applications. This is not a role for someone who has only worked on predefined test scripts or theoretical automation concepts. We need a technically strong, street-smart QA professional who can think beyond test cases, identify hidden risks, challenge assumptions, and ensure product quality in real-world scenarios.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Design, develop, execute, and maintain robust automation frameworks for web, API, and mobile applications.
- Build and enhance web automation suites using **Playwright**, with strong expertise in reliable test design, synchronization, debugging, and cross-browser testing.
- Develop and execute API automation suites covering functional validation, negative scenarios, authentication, authorization, response schemas, data integrity, and error handling.
- Implement mobile application automation using **Appium**, including practical experience with Android and/or iOS applications.
- Identify automation opportunities, evaluate test coverage, and prioritize scenarios based on business risk and application criticality.
- Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines and ensure reliable execution with meaningful reporting.
- Investigate failures, identify root causes, distinguish genuine product defects from flaky tests or environmental issues, and drive issues to resolution.
- Collaborate closely with developers, product managers, business analysts, and other QA engineers to improve overall product quality.
- Perform exploratory testing and think critically about edge cases, unexpected user behavior, integrations, and production-like scenarios.
- Take ownership of test strategy, automation architecture, code quality, test maintainability, and continuous improvement.
- Review automation code, establish best practices, and mentor junior QA engineers where required.
- Proactively identify quality gaps before they become customer-facing issues.
Mandatory Technical Skills
**1. Web Automation — Playwright**
- Strong hands-on experience with Playwright in real-world projects.
- Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript or another language supported by the candidate's automation stack.
- Experience designing reusable automation components, fixtures, page objects, and maintainable test suites.
- Expertise in handling dynamic elements, asynchronous operations, waits, browser contexts, test data, and flaky tests.
- Experience with parallel execution, cross-browser testing, debugging, screenshots, traces, and execution reports.
**2. API Automation**
- Strong experience in API testing and automation using tools/frameworks such as Playwright API, REST Assured, Postman/Newman, or equivalent.
- Good understanding of REST APIs, HTTP methods, status codes, headers, authentication, authorization, JSON, and request/response validation.
- Ability to automate positive, negative, boundary, integration, and end-to-end API scenarios.
- Experience validating API contracts, response schemas, business rules, and data consistency.
- Familiarity with API chaining, test data management, environment configuration, and troubleshooting API failures.
**3. Mobile Automation — Appium**
- Practical, hands-on experience automating mobile applications using Appium.
- Understanding of mobile automation architecture, locators, gestures, synchronization, device capabilities, and test execution.
- Experience with Android and/or iOS application testing; exposure to both is an advantage.
- Ability to debug device-specific issues, app crashes, synchronization failures, and unstable automation scenarios.
- Familiarity with emulators, simulators, physical devices, and mobile test execution infrastructure.
**4. Programming and Automation Frameworks**
- Strong programming and scripting fundamentals.
- Ability to write clean, reusable, modular, and maintainable automation code.
- Experience with Git and version control workflows.
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or equivalent.
- Working knowledge of SQL and database validation.
- Understanding of test reporting, logging, debugging, and failure analysis.
