Product Engineer – AI-Powered SaaS Products

About the Role

We are looking for a hands-on **Product Engineer** who can build, test, and launch modern SaaS products using AI-powered development tools and contemporary software engineering practices.

The ideal candidate should be capable of taking a product idea from concept to a working, production-ready application. This role requires strong programming fundamentals, product thinking, and the ability to use AI coding assistants effectively to accelerate development without compromising code quality, security, or maintainability.

The engineer will work across the full product lifecycle, including requirements analysis, architecture, development, testing, deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities1. SaaS Product Development

• Build and maintain end-to-end SaaS applications, from MVP to production.
• Translate business requirements and product ideas into technical solutions.
• Develop responsive web applications, backend APIs, database schemas, and integrations.
• Implement multi-tenant architecture, authentication, role-based access control, subscriptions, and billing where required.
• Build reusable components and modular services that support future product expansion.

2. AI-Assisted Software Engineering

• Use AI coding tools such as Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or equivalent tools to accelerate development.
• Write effective prompts and provide sufficient context, specifications, and constraints to AI coding agents.
• Use AI for code generation, debugging, refactoring, test generation, documentation, and code reviews.
• Review and validate AI-generated code before merging or deploying it.
• Identify hallucinations, insecure implementations, unnecessary dependencies, and architectural inconsistencies in AI-generated solutions.
• Build reliable development workflows that combine AI-assisted coding with human engineering judgment.

3. Technical Architecture and Engineering Quality

• Design maintainable frontend and backend architectures.
• Write clean, modular, reusable, and well-documented code.
• Design efficient database structures and optimize queries.
• Implement API integrations, background jobs, webhooks, caching, and asynchronous processing where appropriate.
• Apply secure coding practices, data validation, error handling, and access controls.
• Ensure scalability, performance, reliability, and maintainability.

4. Testing and Verification

• Write unit tests, integration tests, and end-to-end tests.
• Validate actual application behaviour rather than relying only on successful code generation or compilation.
• Reproduce and fix bugs using logs, debugging tools, and monitoring systems.
• Verify critical workflows, especially authentication, payments, data access, and database migrations.
• Maintain quality gates before releases.

5. Deployment and Operations

• Work with Git-based workflows, pull requests, code reviews, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Deploy applications to cloud platforms such as AWS, or equivalent infrastructure.
• Configure environments, secrets, domains, databases, and application services.
• Monitor production errors, application performance, and system health.
• Troubleshoot deployment issues and support production releases.

6. Product Thinking and Collaboration

• Collaborate with product owners, designers, developers, and business stakeholders.
• Convert user problems into practical product features.
• Build and validate MVPs quickly while avoiding unnecessary complexity.
• Participate in technical discussions, sprint planning, and product reviews.
• Take ownership of assigned features from requirement clarification to production delivery.

Required Technical Skills

• Strong programming fundamentals in JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, or comparable languages.
• Experience building web applications using frameworks such as React, Next.js, Vue, FastAPI, Django, Node.js, or equivalent technologies.
• Practical experience designing and consuming REST APIs.
• Good knowledge of PostgreSQL, MySQL, or comparable relational databases.
• Understanding of authentication, authorization, sessions, and application security.
• Experience with Git, GitHub/GitLab, pull requests, and CI/CD fundamentals.
• Familiarity with Docker and cloud deployment workflows.
• Hands-on experience with AI coding assistants and agentic development workflows.
• Ability to debug, test, review, and maintain production code.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience building and launching at least one real SaaS product.
• Understanding of SaaS fundamentals: multi-tenancy, subscription plans, usage limits, audit logs, and tenant-level data isolation.
• Experience with AWS or other cloud platforms.
• Familiarity with automated testing, observability, error tracking, and performance monitoring.
• Experience integrating third-party APIs, payment gateways, email services, and external business systems.
• Familiarity with AI APIs, LLM integrations, tool calling, and AI-powered product features.
• Experience with ERP, CRM, accounting, POS, or other business applications is an advantage.
