Job Description: Technical Architect & Engineering Team Lead

Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Technical Architect and Engineering Team Lead who combines strong software architecture expertise with hands on development and team leadership. The ideal candidate should have experience designing, developing and delivering scalable, high availability backend systems while leading a small engineering team.
The role involves architecting a large scale water infrastructure monitoring platform that integrates live SCADA telemetry to monitor water flow, pressure, quality and geolocation across city zones and reservoirs.
Key Responsibilities
- Design scalable backend architectures, APIs and event driven data pipelines.
- Lead the technical design and development of distributed systems handling high frequency telemetry data.
- Design efficient database models and optimise PostgreSQL performance.
- Lead a small engineering team, manage technical delivery, review code and maintain development standards.
- Integrate SCADA systems, OPC UA, MQTT and Industrial IoT platforms.
- Design highly available, fault tolerant systems with effective monitoring, failover and disaster recovery strategies.
- Conduct architecture and infrastructure reviews and identify potential technical risks.
- Work closely with stakeholders to translate business requirements into reliable production systems.
- Remain actively involved in coding, troubleshooting and technical decision making.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- 8 to 12+ years of relevant software engineering experience.
- Proven experience as a Technical Architect, Engineering Lead or Senior Backend Engineer.
- Strong hands on experience in JavaScript/TypeScript, Java or another relevant backend language.
- Expertise in distributed systems, microservices, APIs and scalable backend architecture.
- Strong PostgreSQL knowledge and experience with Kafka or similar event streaming platforms.
- Familiarity with TimescaleDB, PostGIS, Docker, Kubernetes, Prometheus and Grafana.
- Demonstrated ability to lead a team while remaining technically hands on.
Preferred Experience
Exposure to SCADA, Industrial IoT, GIS platforms, geospatial data, secure system design and mission critical applications will be an advantage.
Ideal Candidate
We are looking for a technically strong leader who can independently own architecture decisions, guide a small engineering team and actively contribute to production code. Candidates who have led teams but remain comfortable with hands on engineering are particularly encouraged to apply.
Pay: ₹3,000,000.00 - ₹3,600,000.00 per year
