About the Role

ScholarHat is looking for an experienced Node.js Developer, Backend Architect or Technical Trainer to develop and record high-quality technical video lessons on Node.js, backend development and microservices architecture.

The ideal candidate will have strong practical experience building scalable backend applications, designing REST APIs, implementing distributed systems and working with modern JavaScript/TypeScript technologies.

The candidate should be able to explain complex technical concepts through structured lessons, hands-on coding demonstrations, architecture diagrams and real-world projects that reflect current industry practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and record structured video lessons covering Node.js, backend development and microservices.
• Explain JavaScript and TypeScript fundamentals relevant to server-side development.
• Demonstrate asynchronous programming, event loops, promises, async/await and error handling.
• Build RESTful APIs using Node.js frameworks such as Express.js or NestJS.
• Explain API design, authentication, authorization, validation and secure backend development.
• Demonstrate microservices architecture, service-to-service communication and distributed application design.
• Cover API Gateway, service discovery, configuration management, centralized logging and fault tolerance.
• Explain event-driven architecture and message brokers such as Apache Kafka or RabbitMQ.
• Demonstrate database integration using SQL and NoSQL technologies, including PostgreSQL, MySQL or MongoDB.
• Cover caching, performance optimization, scalability and production troubleshooting.
• Demonstrate containerization, CI/CD and cloud deployment using Docker, Kubernetes and cloud platforms where relevant.
• Prepare practical coding exercises, assignments, project files and supporting learning resources.
• Ensure technical accuracy, lesson quality and a logical progression from fundamentals to advanced topics.
• Incorporate feedback and make revisions or re-recordings as mutually agreed.

Technical Skills Required

• Strong proficiency in JavaScript and Node.js.
• TypeScript and modern JavaScript features.
• Asynchronous programming, event loop, promises and async/await.
• Express.js, NestJS or comparable Node.js backend frameworks.
• REST API development, API versioning and documentation using Swagger/OpenAPI.

**Microservices and Backend Architecture**

• Microservices design principles and service decomposition.
• Inter-service communication using REST, gRPC or messaging.
• Event-driven architecture using Kafka, RabbitMQ or similar tools.
• API Gateway, service discovery and configuration management.
• Distributed systems, fault tolerance, retries, timeouts and circuit breakers.
• Caching, scalability, load balancing and performance optimization.
• Logging, monitoring, tracing and production debugging.
• Design patterns, clean architecture and SOLID principles.

**Cloud and DevOps – Preferred**

• Docker and containerized application development.
• Kubernetes fundamentals and deployment.
• CI/CD pipelines and automated testing.
• AWS, Azure or GCP deployment.
• Redis, observability tools and production application monitoring.

Experience and Eligibility

• 6–8+ years of relevant software development experience is preferred, with substantial hands-on experience in Node.js backend development.
• Prior experience as a Senior Node.js Developer, Backend Engineer, Technical Lead, Solution Architect or Software Architect.
• Strong understanding of scalable backend systems and microservices-based applications.
• Experience designing, developing, testing and deploying production-grade applications.
• Prior technical training, mentoring, webinar delivery or recorded course creation experience is preferred.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to simplify complex concepts for developers.
• Ability to create clean code demonstrations, practical projects and supporting learning materials.
• Access to a suitable recording setup, stable internet connection and a working development environment.

Engagement Details

• Freelance, project-based engagement focused on recording technical video content.
• Remote collaboration with the ScholarHat team.
• Course outline, scope, recording schedule and deliverables will be mutually agreed upon.
• Commercial terms will be finalized based on the course scope and recording requirements.
• Deliverables may include recorded lessons, code repositories, practical exercises, assignments and project resources.
